From the back of the book: They’re a pack of booze guzzling, death dealing battle maidens-for-hire and they’re in the business of killing all the gods’ creatures for profit. Meet Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief.
As a fantasy reader, RPG fan, I was an instant fan of Rat Queens.
There’s humor, blood, swearing, and sexy battle ladies wrapped up in a fantasy realm with all your favorite races, and even some new ones, like smidgens! Wiebe had me laughing from the start and I’m already upset that I have to wait until May for volume two. I need all the volumes now!
The ladies are charmingly cliché – they’re spunky, bitchy, sarcastic and always ready for a fight. There are other bands of mercenaries featured in volume one and I also got a kick out of The Four Daves. I loved the art style as well – I don’t really know how to describe it, but it’s what I look for in my comics. There’s really nothing I disliked about this comic and I’m so ready for more! Just go read it!
