Judging A Book By Its Cover: The World of Ice and Fire

This is my weekly post where I highlight and appreciate cover designs and the general physical appearance of books. We all judge book covers to some extent. I can’t say that I’ve ever decided against a book with terrible cover art if I liked the sound of the plot, but I have purchased special editions of books, or multiple editions of books based on their cover art. If book covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many beautiful editions!

This glorious, fully illustrated, tome adds more depth to the already rich history of Westeros found in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. This is written by Martin himself, along with Elio M. Garcia Jr. and Linda Antonsson and published by Bantam in 2014. It’s enormous and awesome and I have actually started reading it, though the going is slow – its not exactly portable! ISBN: 9780553805444.

My hands aren’t massive, but this book is pretty huge.
