Life of a Book Hoarder

Mid-Year Freak Out Tag 2018

Kermit accurately represents how I feel about my TBR. So, let’s do the Mid-Year Freak Out tag because I thought it might be neat to look back over my answers from last year and also because everyone else is friggen doing it right now!

I don’t know who created this – I found it on YouTube and am now just copying it from myself…but I didn’t create it!

+ BEST BOOK I’VE READ SO FAR

You know it’s hard for me to name one, so I’ll go with a few: Into the Drowning Deep, The Jane Austen Project, The Tangled Lands and Strange Practice.

+ BEST SEQUEL

Void Black Shadow, the sequel to Killing Gravity.

+ NEW RELEASE HAVEN’T READ YET

Well there are zillions of new releases, but of the ones I own, I really want to get to Noir by Christopher Moore, since I went to the signing. But also my Book of the Month books (three, currently) and like…a million other things.

+ MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK FOR SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR

Dreadful Company, the sequel to Strange Practice comes out at the end of this month! Also Terran Tomorrow, the third book in the Yesterday’s Kin trilogy. Probably quite a few others, but I’m terrible at keeping up with new releases. Books just happen to find their way to me in time anyway.

+ BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT

Gold Fame Citrus, for sure. It started off strong then I absolutely hated it. Also, it’s got a gorgeous cover and I’m so mad I don’t love it.

+ BIGGEST SURPRISE OF THE YEAR

Probably Undead Girl Gang, since it’s YA and sorta contemporary (ok so like magical contemporary) and I actually loved it!

+ NEW TO ME AUTHOR I FELL IN LOVE WITH

Corey J. White, Michael Marshall Smith and Molly Tanzer.

+ NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH

I really don’t get fictional crushes. Yes, I find characters attractive or interesting or something, but no matter how good my imagination is, they’re not real enough for me to crush on them. I’ll stick to Chest Chris Evans, thanks.

+ NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER

I really enjoyed Mars from the Voidwitch Saga and Stark from Only Forward, but I also enjoyed a lot of other characters who I totally can’t think of right now.

+ BOOK THAT MADE ME CRY

Wolf Hollow for sure.

+ BOOK THAT MADE ME HAPPY

My answer remains that books and reading in general make me happy. But I reread The City of Dreaming Books and it was so wonderful to be back in that world. After my slump in May I needed something familiar.

+ MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK I’VE BOUGHT

The first thing that comes to mind is my Austen set from Arcturus that I managed to snag for a steal from Books-A-Million while on vacation. I recently bought That Inevitable Victorian Thing almost purely for the cover, so let’s go with that too.

+ BOOKS I NEED TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR

My “priority” TBR pile is at least 30 books and I was going to list them all out, but it turns out I’m too lazy to do that. Sooooooo…..

~

How’s your progress so far? I’m doing well in terms of how many books I’m reading…I just need to slow down my damn buying! Anything on here you agree with? Disagree with? Let’s fight! Jk, jk.

  1. Lol that’s cute with Kermit. I surprised myself and am doing pretty good with my tbr in meeting my reading goal for the year. As for the books I said I would read, well….
