This is my weekly post where I highlight beautiful books from my collection. We all judge book covers to some extent – I created this feature to highlight and appreciate the art and design elements of some of the books I own. If covers didn’t matter, publishers wouldn’t put out so many wonderful editions!
Jeffrey Alan Love is an amazing artist and you may recall I featured his other book, Notes from the Shadowed City in a Judging post last year. When I found out he was doing a kickstarter for his next book, The Thousand Demon Tree, I immediately pledged. The book turned out to be much larger than I thought, which was awesome, and it came with some extra postcard prints – I’ve since framed them and I’m waiting for Sweetbeeps to hang them in our living room. Shadowed City came with a signed print, which is also framed in our living room. The Thousand Demon Tree was published in 2018 by Flesk Publications, ISBN: 9781640410114.
The cover does look pretty artistically sinister. How’s the book? Would you recommend it?

If you’re a fan of art books and stories told without text, then yes. There’s a good story here, even though most of it is left to your imagination. And I love his art style, so for me, it’s worth owning simply to have his work.
